Color Shoot (Red)
For my shoot, I started out with taking of the first things that popped into my head, that were red of course. I went around my neighborhood and used objects in my house. I also went to a car lot and a barn in Clarksville, Indiana. I wanted to explore and get out of my confort zone so I tried something different and left the premises of Noblesville. I used different angles and different lighting to portray rules of composition. I used mostly "get close" because that's personally my favorite. Usually I will use zoom on my camera, or I'll hold the camera really close to the subject. I chose a barn because even though it's a cliche "red barn," I enjoyed the thrilling experience of running through someones property to take a picture of their barn. I incorporated voice by choosing more cliche red subjects, just because I'm a bit too mainstream. Through this assignment, I was able to uncover hidden beauty in a old barn. Not just the barn, but other subjects as well. I felt like a had some more strengths than weaknesses. I struggled finding subjects, but succeeded at taking the pictures using different elements and techniques we've learned in class. I would've changed my color, I found it a little difficult to find red subjects.

It's a nice barn, but a bit too much like a postcard. "Getting closer" may have helped. Also, the "thrilling experience of running through someones property" can get you shot at. Ask permission, and it is almost always granted. And it may get you inside the barn to find some real treasures.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if you could emphasize the complementary aspect of the red barn against the green grass to create tension. Additionally I find the openings in the barn a bit mysterious. Showing the distinctiveness of the barn with it's unique "markings" may also create an interesting composition.
